Broccoli Seed Oil

Broccoli seed oil is a lightweight, non-greasy botanical oil cold-pressed from the seeds of Brassica oleracea italica. While it might sound like an unlikely skincare ingredient, it is an exceptional emollient that is frequently used as a natural alternative to synthetic silicones, giving the skin a smooth, glowing finish without feeling heavy or clogging pores.

A large part of this oil's moisturizing power comes from its unique fatty acid profile, composed of nearly 50% erucic acid (an omega-9 fatty acid). This allows it to deeply nourish and support a compromised skin barrier, locking in hydration to prevent moisture loss and smoothing the appearance of fine lines and texture.

Beyond hydration, broccoli seed oil is an antioxidant powerhouse. It is naturally rich in vitamins A, C, and E, which work synergistically to neutralize free radicals and support healthy skin. Most notably, it contains a unique, potent compound called sulforaphane. Extensive dermatological research demonstrates that topically applied sulforaphane upregulates the skin's cellular defenses and protective enzymes, significantly mitigating UV-induced skin damage, reducing inflammation, and protecting against premature photoaging caused by environmental stressors.
