Stay until the end of this article for a special surprise ❤️
I recently had the chance to catch up with my dear friend and Holistic Skin Coach - Ingrid.
First, we talked about our favourite movies. One of my favourite movies is 'Life as a House', which depicts the journey of a father with a terminal illness and his teenage son. This movie is especially close to my heart given my own father's recent passing, his extraordinary courage in fighting cancer and the inspiring relationship he had with my son.
In exchange, Ingrid recommended a number of great movies to watch in honour of Black History Month. And let me tell you, these movies are powerful.
The conversation naturally shifted towards the topic of skincare as if often does. We might be a bit skin obsessed. 🤗 One of the things Ingrid mentioned kinda stuck with me. She said, “In the winter, I use different skin smoothies than the ones I use in the summer.”
Even though I've already discussed managing dry skin in the winter, I think it’s important to bring it up again. Remember that you shouldn’t have the same skincare routine throughout the year. Your skincare routine should always evolve and adapt to whatever your skin needs.
For example, if you live in an area where you experience frigid winters and the humidity is low, your skin will become stripped of its moisture. Blasting indoor heating certainly doesn’t help the situation either. So in the winter, your routine should revolve around boosting skin hydration.
Let’s take a look at Ingrid’s routine as a source of inspiration! 👇 There are several different skin smoothies that Ingrid makes during the cold winter months.
Ingrid tends to skip out on using a cleanser during her AM skincare routine. Instead, she splashes her face with warm water and uses our Bamboo Charcoal Sponge to cleanse her skin. She then creates a skin smoothie using Berry Rich + Phyto Clear to manage oil and any dryness.
Ingrid's PM routine consists of a double cleanse and making a skin smoothie that's specific to what her skin is craving at that particular point in time. If her skin is feeling a bit dry, she'll cook up a Berry Rich + Skin Stuff combo. If her skin requires an extra dose of nourishment, she’ll mix Putty with Superfood Serum and Fullmoon Serum. Ingrid especially enjoys adding Superfood Serum to her routine because it restores her skin and helps with any peeling and thinning that results from the cold weather and windburn.
Ingrid also tends to spritz her face with Face Food Mineral Mist several times throughout her routine to keep her skin’s hydration levels up.
Btw, don’t forget to give the skin on your body some TLC too. Ingrid loves making a body skin smoothie by layering Intimacy Oil and All Over Face + Body Lotion to soothe her dry skin. It gives her the same comforting feeling as her favourite soft blanket and makes her skin feel like it’s wrapped in a protective layer of moisture and hydration.
