June’s full moon is the Strawberry Moon! This fun name comes from the fact that it's the time of year when many berries ripen and are ready to enjoy. Just like a juicy strawberry, this full moon is the perfect time to embrace life’s sweetness and find appreciation for the world around you. Not to mention, this year the Strawberry Moon also falls on the Summer Solstice, when we get to enjoy the longest day of the year.
Savour what you’re grateful for.
That balance between the joy of Summer Solstice sunshine and the sweetness of the Strawberry Moon inspired us to share a small gratitude practice all about savouring life’s sweetness.
The Strawberry Moon Gratitude Practice
2. Think of all the things in your life that are worth savouring–particular moments, relationships, activities, or plans that you know you deeply enjoy and want to make the most out of.
3. On your piece of paper, write down what you want to savour.
4. Every time you write something down, hold it in your mind as you eat one of your strawberries. Imagine the sweetness of the fruit you’re eating is a representation of the sweetness and joy you get out of whatever you write down.
5. For every gratitude-worthy part of your life you write down, reward yourself with a strawberry as you visualize what you are savouring.
6. Keep going until you run out of things to write (or run out of strawberries!)
7. Hold on to your piece of paper. Every time you need a reminder of all the sweetness in your life, pull it out and look at your list again.
This gratitude practice was designed to take your average gratitude journaling prompt one step further, inviting an often forgotten sense–taste–into your practice.
Involving taste inspires you to truly savour what you’re grateful for and gives you the opportunity to awaken your senses, create a positive link between taste and memory, and reflect on the aspects of your life that bring you joy.
Hopefully, the next time you have a strawberry, all those amazing memories of gratitude will come flooding back ❤️
