What's in Fullmoon Serum?

We've had such a good response to our Fullmoon Serum pre-sale. Thank you all for the love and support you've shown for our latest product! It's truly one of a kind and we are so happy that we finally get to share it with you after having worked on it for the past few years. It will officially launch this November so we thought we’d take this opportunity to break down the main ingredients that make Fullmoon Serum so special.

Hyaluronic acid

One of the hottest ingredients in skincare right now is hyaluronic acid, a powerful humectant that occurs naturally in the body. Humectants draw water into the skin and help it retain that moisture so your skin looks plump and hydrated.

For our Fullmoon Serum, we use a vegan form of hyaluronic acid extracted from the seeds of the senna plant (Cassia Angustifolia). This flowering shrub contains polysaccharides which are great at attracting and retaining water. When hyaluronic acid is used over time, it can deliver intense moisturization and helps reduce the appearance of wrinkles and fine lines.

Collagen

As we age, our body’s ability to produce collagen decreases. Oxidative stress also has a negative effect on collagen production. To keep your skin looking plump and healthy, it’s important to get collagen from other sources, whether that’s through your diet or topical application.

The collagen we use in Fullmoon Serum is derived from African Mahogany bark that is ecocert approved (and meets the cosmetics standards of Natural and Organic Cosmetics). This ingredient helps to stimulate the production of collagen in the body and strengthens skin layers, leaving you looking rejuvenated.

Peptides

Although not as well known in the skincare world, peptides are an important ingredient. They are short chains of amino acids that penetrate the surface of the skin to help strengthen the skin barrier and boost collagen production.

Given my love for superfoods and my mission to create powerfully naturally skincare using superfood ingredients, Fullmoon Serum is formulated with peptides from Hibiscus Esculentus extract (AKA: okra).

Vitamin C

To say vitamin C is a popular skincare ingredient is an understatement. Vitamin C is a powerful antioxidant that helps to combat free radical damage that can lead to premature signs of aging.

Fullmoon Serum contains vitamin C from moringa. The high content of vitamin C in moringa (it has more vitamin C than oranges) helps to brighten the complexion and reduce hyperpigmentation.

Bio retinol

Retinol is well-known in the skincare world as a treatment for acne and to help minimize signs of aging. However, it can be irritating to the skin and should be used cautiously.

To offer all the benefits of retinol, without the side effects, we formulated Fullmoon Serum with a retinol alternative derived from the moth bean plant. This botanical retinol is much more gentle than traditional retinol but just as effective. It helps to speed cell renewal and boost collagen production to minimize the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles.

Malachite

It seems that crystals have recently become mainstream. It’s believed that they can help improve your health and mood.

It may seem strange but malachite extract is loaded with properties that benefit the skin., which is why we included it in Fullmoon Serum. Malachite works as an antioxidant and absorbs pollution. It also contains copper which helps increase collagen and elastin production.

Emotionally, malachite is believed to bring unconditional love, balance and harmony.

Aromatic extracts

The lovely aroma of Fullmoon Serum comes from aromatic extracts. Not to be confused with essential oils, our aromatic extracts (bergamot, pineapple, coffee, apricot, jasmine, banana, cantaloupe, cinnamon and vanilla) are derived from plants and food grade ingredients. When soaked for a long period of time, the aromas and medicinal properties of the plant material are infused into the liquid.

A significant amount of plant material is required to get just a few drops of essential oils. However, minimal plant material is needed to create extracts, making them a more sustainable option. In addition, aromatic extracts tend to be very gentle on the skin.
