#AskGraydon: How Do You Make Aloe Milk Lather More?

Hi Sarah 😍

First of all, I just wanna take this opportunity to thank you for your support.

And also, thank you for this wonderful question. To answer your question: Aloe Milk Cleanser isn’t supposed to create a lather or foam up. We specifically formulated it that way.

Why, you may ask?

Well, have you ever tried a traditional foaming cleanser that leaves your skin feeling squeaky clean, but also tight and dry afterwards? As it turns out, this might be a sign that your skin barrier is impaired, albeit only temporarily. But with repeated use, your skin may run into some big problems. This is what happens when a cleanser isn’t formulated properly.

Many conventional cleansers tend to include harsh cleansing agents (aka surfactants) in their formula. These surfactants are sulfate-based and they’re what make these cleansers foam up

The problem?

Your skin’s natural pH is around 4.5 to 5.5, which you may have learned in one of our previous blog posts. In contrast, some cleansers have a pH of around 6.0, making them harsh and very stripping. Plus, due to the nature of how they work, they temporarily alter the skin’s structure and cause the water in your skin to evaporate more easily, leaving your skin feeling dry.

Understanding this, we set out to create a cleanser that wouldn't strip your skin. And the result was Aloe Milk. This gentle, yet effective milk cleanser is formulated with a plant-based surfactant that cleanses without stripping the skin. And FYI, this surfactant is also environmentally-friendly and biodegradable.

But that’s not all.

This cleanser, which is even suitable for sensitive skin, includes wonderful ingredients like aloe vera, black tea and niacinamide (vitamin B3) to nourish and reinforce the skin as you're cleansing. Talk about feeding two birds with one scone!

So rest assured that even if Aloe Milk doesn’t lather, you’ll still be able to properly cleanse your skin of any impurities.

And in case you’re wondering, despite being a foaming cleanser, our Face Foam is also formulated with a gentle plant-based surfactant. It also has a skin-friendly pH value of 5.0 to 5.3, which will keep your skin happy.

For best results, I recommend double cleansing with both Aloe Milk and Face Foam to deeply cleanse your skin. Learn more about this method here.
