Treat Yourself to Glowy Skin for Valentine’s Day

Treat Yourself to Glowy Skin for Valentine’s Day

Love your skin this Valentine's Day! Here are our methods for pampering yourself and giving your skin a gorgeous glow.

Valentine’s Day… you either love it or hate it, but no matter how you feel, it’s the perfect excuse to spoil yourself and indulge in some self-care.

Whether you want to look gorgeous for a date night, feel like pampering with your besties for Galantines, or want to invest in some me time, your Valentine’s Day plans should involve showing some love to your skin–and by extension, yourself.

Here are some things you can try to love your skin on Valentine’s Day!

Turn Your Favourite Skin Product into a Face Mask

It’s likely that you’ve got a selection of skincare products on your bathroom counter that you love. You’re probably used to using them every day, but there's a way to get even more out of the products you already own and love–turn them into a face mask!

All you have to do is take a large amount of your moisturizer, add a few drops of your serum in if you have it, and apply it in a thick layer on your skin. You can leave it on for as long as you want as the product slowly absorbs into your skin–that way your relaxing selfcare activity doesn’t end after just 10 minutes, and the powerful ingredients in your skincare have even more time to sink into your skin and work their magic.

Our recommendation for the perfect product to do this with is actually our Aloe Milk Cleanser. Since our cleansers usually don’t sit on our skin for long periods of time before they’re washed off, we might miss out on the full benefits of the active ingredients in them. On the flip side, because of this, cleansers can sometimes cause irritation when left on for too long because of the strength of their ingredients.

Luckily, Aloe Milk Cleanser is filled with superfood skincare ingredients without being irritating–that's why we call it a hydrating cream cleanser. You probably wouldn’t think to use a cleanser this way, but it makes a great face mask! Leaving it on for a longer period of time (we’d recommend around 15 minutes) allows the niacinamide and antioxidant-rich black tea in the formula to balance your skin tone, help with redness, and reduce the appearance of fine lines and pores.

Plus, its pink colour fits perfectly with a Valentine’s Day skincare routine!

Relax in a Romantic Bath

A hot bath is a luxurious treat we can give ourselves. Unfortunately, hot water can strip your skip of its natural moisture. Not so good when you’re looking for a radiant, glowy complexion. Luckily, there’s a way to counteract the drying effect of a hot bath… all while enjoying the heat!

Here’s the secret: add an oil containing squalane into the water! Squalane is an impressive emollient and occlusive moisturizer that both supports and enhances your skin barrier without leaving your skin feeling oily or greasy. Plus, squalane is suitable for every skin type!

If you’ve decided to turn on the hot water for your bath, it’s also a great chance to drop some essential oils into the water and let the steam that rises up provide you with some soothing aromatherapy. Depending on what you need, Graydon recommends adding sweet orange for a mood boost, rosemary for mental clarity, or lavender for its powerful calming effect.

And if you want to make it extra romantic, toss a couple rose petals into the tub 😉

Feed Your Skin with a Smoothie

Taking care of your skin isn’t just about what you put on, it’s also about how you fuel your body so your skin is healthy and happy! An easy (and tasty) way to give your body the vitamins and nutrients it needs is to make a smoothie. For Valentine’s Day, we wanted to share a delicious recipe that’s our take on the classic gift of chocolate-covered strawberries!

You’ll need:

  • ½ cup (coconut) yogurt
  • 1 tbsp of sunflower butter
  • ½ cup of ice
  • Handful of frozen strawberries
  • A generous pinch of cinnamon

Did you know that strawberries are full of antioxidants and AHAs? That means they help your skin look bright and smooth, giving you that gorgeous glowy look.

Give Yourself a Gift

Taking care of your skin is what gives you a radiant complexion and a healthy glow, but you can’t underestimate the transformation that happens when you not only look beautiful but feel beautiful. Your inner glow is what makes the biggest impression on people!

That is why taking care of yourself and spending a day pampering also includes something that makes you feel good. Whether that’s dancing around the house to your favourite music, putting on the outfit that always makes you feel fabulous, or finally using up some of that expensive face or hair product you save for special occasions–find a treat to give yourself that makes you happy and sparks your inner glow.

Feel the Love

During this holiday that is all about love, we tend to focus on celebrating romantic relationships. But it’s important to appreciate all the different kinds of love you have in your life from your friends and family to the love you hold for yourself. While you might not try everything on this list, taking time to treat yourself and feel confident in your skin is a beautiful, powerful, and worthwhile thing.

No matter your plans for this holiday, you deserve to love the skin you’re in ❤️
