Key Ingredients

Acids

Azelaic Acid

Hyaluronic Acid

  • Naturally produced by the body, it draws water into the skin to leave your face looking and feeling hydrated. We use hyaluronic acid that has been extracted from the seed of Indian senna. Grown natively in Egypt, this plant was formerly used in herbal teas for its ability to cleanse the digestive system and clarify the skin. In skincare, hyaluronic acid is used for its moisturizing potential. It can absorb up to 1,000 times its own weight in water, resulting in firm and supple-looking skin. It also contains polysaccharides which are great at attracting and retaining water.

Salicin (alternative to Salicylic Acid)

  • Naturally found in white willow bark, which comes from a Euro-Asian tree with distinctive white leaves. It serves as an excellent ingredient in skincare formulations to treat acne and inflammation. It also helps to regulate sebum production and is a gentle, but effective antibacterial exfoliant.

Blue Tansy

  • This deep blue essential oil smells like a sweet fruit with a hint of apple and herbal notes. It is known for its powerful antihistamine properties and can be used to counter allergic reactions, such as rashes and itches. It's an excellent choice to soothe bruises and wounds and to calm one’s skin, especially when overexposed to certain environments, such as urban city life (pollution) and the elements (too much sun/wind).

Ceramides

Charcoal

  • Sourced from bamboo. The earliest documented use of bamboo charcoal dates back to the Ming Dynasty. Chinese healers used “the black diamond” to formulate medicines and filter water for tea. The charcoal also “sweetened” the tea by infusing minerals such as calcium, magnesium and potassium. In skincare, charcoal helps to detoxify the skin.

Niacinamide

  • Otherwise known as vitamin B3, this ingredient is a powerful antioxidant with anti-inflammatory and antimicrobial properties. It can help with acne, wrinkles and sun damage. Since it is a water soluble vitamin, it is easily absorbed into the skin. Niacinamide works especially well when used alongside hyaluronic acid and zinc.

Peptides

  • A string of amino acids that penetrate the surface of the skin and encourage collagen production to help slow down the signs of aging. We use oligopeptides derived from Hibiscus esculentus extract, which is a member of the mallow family and contains 2-20 amino acids.

 Probiotics

  • Topical probiotics work via “bacterial interference”. They interfere with the ability of bad bacteria to provoke an immune reaction by preventing skin cells from seeing them in the first place. Probiotics strengthen the skin’s natural protective mechanisms to maintain a healthy balance of good bacteria on the surface of the skin. Healthy signals produced by these probiotics help to stop your skin cells from sending an “attack” message to your immune system. This helps to keep acne and rosacea flare-ups at bay.

Retinol (Botanical)

Bakuchiol

  • An antioxidant and anti-inflammatory agent that can boost collagen production. It does not have the same irritating side effects as traditional retinol and can be used on sensitive skin. It is also a very stable ingredient that can be used with other products without any negative interactions. Bakuchiol has antibacterial properties, which is beneficial for oily and/or acne-prone skin. Using bakuchiol overtime can help with enlarged pores, acne, wrinkles, fine lines, and scarring. It can even help to improve skin elasticity.

Moth Bean

  • Derived from the moth bean plant, this botanical retinol is more gentle than conventional retinol, but just as effective. It helps to strengthen the dermis and decrease the look of fine lines and wrinkles. Moth bean extract helps to encourage collagen production and boost skin cell renewal. It contains phenolic compounds like caffeic acid, cinnamic acid, ferulic acid, and kaempferol which protect the skin against free radicals and UV damage.

Squalane Oil

  • This highly nourishing non-comedogenic oil is full of antioxidants and is readily absorbed into the skin since its composition is so similar to our skin’s natural sebum. Squalane can improve the skin’s ability to retain water. Over time, it can help to reduce the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles.
