At Graydon Skincare, we aim to be the most transparent brand we can be. With that in mind, let’s talk about the colour of Moon Boost Serum.
Due to the nature of the botanical ingredients we use, the colour of our products may vary between batches and change over time. This is a normal characteristic of plant-based ingredients.
Our multivitamin Moon Boost Serum varies in its orange colour between batches for this reason. Specifically, the vitamin F remains stable but can undergo colour changes when combined with other ingredients in the formula. We can assure you that despite the colour variation, the serum remains stable and effective.
We felt the skin benefits of Vitamin F outweighed removing it from the formula to achieve a consistent colour.
Vitamin F is made up of essential fatty acids alpha-linoleic acid (omega-3) and linolenic acid (omega-6); this is how you will see it listed in the ingredients. These fatty acids work together to do wonders for your skin. Vitamin F is a powerful moisturizing ingredient that helps to reduce Transepidermal Water Loss (TEWL), improve skin elasticity, firmness and texture.(1)
Sometimes, a change in colour can be attributed to vitamin C. This is not the case with Moon Boost Serum.
Vitamin C is a powerful antioxidant that helps to minimize skin damage by neutralizing free radicals.(2) In addition, it works to even the complexion by fading hyperpigmentation and calming redness with its anti-inflammatory properties. Vitamin C has also been shown to increase collagen production!(2)
The vitamin C used in our Moon Boost Serum is called tetrahexyldecyl ascorbate. Unlike the more common, water-soluble L-ascorbic acid, tetrahexyldecyl ascorbate is a highly stable, oil-soluble form of vitamin C.
L-ascorbic acid slowly degrades when it comes into contact with light and air; therefore, we chose to use the more stable derivative, tetrahexyldecyl ascorbate.
For additional clarity, we also conducted tests on Moon Boost Serum to confirm the colour change is not due to the oxidation of the vitamin C in our formula.
Clear glass bottle
Because the form of vitamin C used in Moon Boost Serum remains stable when exposed to light and air, we consciously decided to house this serum in a clear glass bottle. We feel that the glass bottle adds an extra layer of transparency. It also makes the packaging easily recyclable.
