Sustainability: Our Future Plans
As you may already know, we’re committed to sustainability. We offer products that are housed in eco-friendly glass bottles and 50% post-consumer recycled (PCR) plastic, not to mention our Bamboo Charcoal Sponge is fully biodegradable.
As good as this all sounds, we recognize that these are imperfect solutions to the bigger problem. There is still a lot of work left to be done and we’re committed to putting more effort into the movement towards sustainability.
How do we plan to do that, you may ask? 🧐
Well, we plan on housing our products in 100% green packaging. For one, we intend on using materials such as bioplastics. In case you’re not familiar with bioplastics, they are biodegradable materials that are made from renewable sources, such as corn starch, straw, wood chips, sawdust, and recycled food waste.
Bioplastics are just as durable, resistant and versatile as traditional plastic. And they don’t take centuries to degrade. This makes them the perfect choice to reduce plastic waste.
And that’s not all.
The use of bioplastics will also reduce our carbon footprint, as less energy is required for its production. The production process doesn't consume non-renewable resources either. This reduces non-biodegradable waste that contaminates the environment. What's more is that bioplastics don't contain harmful substances, like phthalates or bisphenol A, which can be detrimental to our health. What’s not to love?!
Aside from bioplastics, we also plan on packaging more of our products in glass, specifically glass bottles and jars. Two of our products - Fullmoon Serum and Superfood Serum (aka the deluxe duo) - are already packaged in glass bottles.
Glass is extremely sustainable, as it can be endlessly recycled without any loss in quality. It’s also considered resource-efficient, since it can be made from natural raw materials, such as sand, making it a no-brainer choice for us moving forward.
Plus, let's be honest, glass packaging looks ultra luxurious on your bathroom shelf and gives you that fancy feeling as you reach for your products 😍
And finally, a more revolutionary move: we have our eyes set on refillable pods.
Don't fret if this doesn't sound familiar to you, as the use of refillable pods is a bit of an innovation in the packaging industry. Essentially, they are pods that contain actual product (imagine a cream or moisturizer). These pods are placed inside your already existing glass container.
Why is this such a sustainable option?
Imagine this. You've just run out of your fave skincare product. Instead of throwing everything away, you only need to get rid of the recyclable pod, which is made from 50% post consumer recycled plastic. Then, you purchase a new pod. Pop it into your already existing glass jar. And voila! Your product is as good as new.
This is an excellent way to reduce single-use plastic and we can’t wait to let you experience them. And *wink, wink*, we may be “cooking up” something new and exciting for you, coming soon 😉
So there you have it.
For us, sustainability isn’t just a PR move or a momentary gain. It's our mission and our vision for a better future. It’s the essence of our brand. We know that we won’t be able to do everything perfectly, but we’re committed to always learning and always improving ourselves. And that’s our promise to you ❤️
