Skin Redness? Try These Tips!

Skin Redness? Try These Tips!

Have you been struggling with your skin turning red for seemingly no reason at all?

Well, you’re not alone. In fact, skin redness is something that many people are also struggling with. And as it turns out, there might be a reason behind it after all.

Some of the most common causes of skin redness are rosacea, perioral dermatitis, allergies and/or broken capillaries underneath the skin. While many of these conditions are innate, there are things that you can do to help alleviate the problem. 🤩

In particular, there are a few ingredients that you should consider:

Aloe Vera: A natural humectant that increases the skin’s hydration and has anti-inflammatory properties to calm down skin irritation.

Hemp: Its oil is often used in skincare products to moderate sebum production, moisturize and soothe skin inflammation.

Honey: Nature’s sweet nectar has moisturizing, soothing, antioxidant, antibacterial and antifungal properties to support overall skin health.

I like to put on a thick layer of Putty since it has ingredients like oats, honey, chamomile and hemp to offset any skin redness you may have.

Niacinamide: A multifunctional rock star skincare ingredient that can do basically everything, including lightening dark spots, controlling oil production, increasing ceramide synthesis, reducing inflammation and more.

Oats: An amazing skin protectant that also helps to prevent water loss and has anti-inflammatory properties to soothe redness.

Probiotics: The (good) bacteria that supports the overall health of the skin by reinforcing the skin microbiome and barrier function.

Zinc: An essential mineral that, when applied topically, can aid in wound healing, normalize oil production and limit the growth of acne-causing bacteria.

I’m happy to tell you that these are all ingredients that we, at Graydon Skincare, love to use in our products! 😍

How to combat skin redness

To start, cleanse your face with our ultra-soothing Aloe Milk Cleanser, which has niacinamide and aloe vera

Then put on a skin calming face mask for about 15-20 minutes. Personally, I like to put on a thick layer of Putty since it has ingredients like oats, honey, chamomile and hemp to offset any skin redness you may have. After gently wiping off the mask with a Bamboo Charcoal Sponge, spritz your face with Face Food Mineral Mist to reap the wonderful benefits of zinc

To finish, mix Berry Rich Face + Eye Cream and Face Glow for the perfect AM moisturizer to truly reinforce your skin barrier with probiotics and gently cover up any residual redness. For a PM moisturizer, mix Berry Rich Face + Eye Cream and Putty together instead!

And here’s a surprising tip to help alleviate your skin redness: Do yoga.

Yup! That’s right. 😇

Yoga has always been a great way for me to improve my strength and flexibility, become better acquainted with my body and help with my mental health. As someone who has struggled with anxiety and depression in the past, it truly is a longtime source of comfort and relaxation.

But did you know that yoga can also help improve your skin health? I bet you didn’t!

Among a plethora of benefits, doing yoga can help improve your digestion, which in turn also improves your gut microbiome, translating into a healthier skin microbiome. Aside from that, yoga can also help lower your stress levels and balance your hormones, all of which have a direct effect on the overall health of your skin.

And those are my tips for dealing with your skin redness. These routines have helped so many people I know, and I hope they'll help you as well! 🥰
