Moistening a Bamboo Charcoal Sponge for sensitive skin under water

My Water-Conscious Beauty Routine

World Water Day is coming up on March 22nd. This UN observance day highlights the importance of freshwater and advocates for the sustainable management of freshwater resources. Since Graydon Skincare is a sustainable beauty brand, this day holds great significance to us.

There are many ways you can make your beauty routine more sustainable from purchasing products housed in eco-friendly packaging to using products with sustainably-sourced ingredients. Another way is by making your beauty routine water-conscious. That's what I'm going to talk to you about today, starting with a simple tip that will save a lot of water: Don't let the tap run.

For example, when I cleanse my face, I first dampen my skin using our Bamboo Charcoal Sponge. I then turn off the tap and massage the cleanser onto my skin. Using my damp sponge, I gently wipe off the cleanser. Lastly, I splash my face with a small amount of water to ensure nothing is left on my skin.

As an extension of this practice, I also don’t let the faucet run while I’m brushing my teeth, lathering soap on my body or washing my hair.

TIP: Try to limit the number of times you wash your hair. When I feel like my hair is getting a bit oily, I put it in a braid. This way, I can hide the greasy look, while allowing the natural oils produced by my scalp to nourish my hair.

Just because I try to be water-conscious doesn’t mean that I don’t have fun with my beauty routine.

In fact, most people are surprised when they learn that I frequently take baths.

I bet you’d be even more surprised to hear that you can be conscious of your water consumption even when taking a bath. So how does that work? Simple. I only fill my bathtub halfway and have a bird bath instead of filling my tub to the brim with water.

This practice keeps me feeling relaxed, while allowing me to be mindful of the resources I consume.

My final tip is to invest in a shower head with water-saving technology. Let me tell you, ever since I switched to this type of shower head, it has been a game changer. I still manage to pamper myself, while keeping my water consumption down and my wallet very happy

So there you go. Those are some of the ways my beauty routine is water-conscious. I hope you'll give them a try!
