Confused About Men’s Skincare? Let Us Help.

IN THIS ARTICLE:

If you’re a man, skincare may sound like alchemy to you. After all, it’s just not something that you’re used to doing. Maybe you splash some water onto your face and call it a day—which is fine. There’s nothing wrong with that.

However, if you’re looking to take your self-care and grooming to the next level, I can help!

Understanding your skin

Men’s skin is typically thicker and more resilient than women’s, but as a result, the texture is also generally rougher and tougher too. There are pros and cons to this. The pro is that thicker skin means you’re able to retain moisture better. Moisturized skin is smooth skin. However, the con is that your skin is also more prone to dead skin build up.

Your skin can also typically produce more sebum than women’s skin. This can help soften your skin but it can also lead to clogged pores.

Even though there are differences between the skin of men and women, you DO NOT need dedicated men’s skincare products.

Everyone’s skin is unique. Don’t get caught up on men’s skincare or women’s skincare products. What you should pay attention to are your skin needs and which products can address your skin concerns.

Creating a simple routine

If you’re a complete beginner to skincare, I recommend keeping your skincare routine as simple as possible. Just because a routine is simple doesn’t mean that it’s not effective. To create a simple and effective skincare routine, you only need a few products.

Cleanser
Cleansing is really the foundation of good skincare. Just like you brush your teeth every day, it’s also important to cleanse your face every day.

I recommend using Face Foam or Aloe Milk Cleanser in the morning and at night. Face Foam is better suited for the oilier skin type. It has ingredients like salicylic acid and azelaic acid to retexturize your skin. Also, it makes your skin look and feel hydrated with blue-green algae extract. Aloe Milk Cleanser is better suited for the drier skin type. It has ingredients like aloe vera, black tea, and niacinamide to calm and balance your skin.

Moisturizer
After cleansing, you need to replenish your skin with extra moisture. Moisturized skin is happy, healthy skin!

I recommend using Skin Stuff which suits all skin types. It’s formulated with ingredients to help protect and reinforce your skin barrier like ceramides, glycerin and rosehip seed oil. Oh, and you can use it on your eye area as well.

Primer (optional)
Just because you’re a man doesn’t mean that you can’t enhance your face with a tinted primer.

In fact, our Face Glow is perfect for that! It delivers brightening and highlighting effects for an overall radiant complexion, while naturally covering up dark spots, large pores and fine lines. It also contains superfood ingredients like raspberry seed oil and sea buckthorn oil to strengthen your skin.

Sun protection
Whether you're a man or a woman, UV protection should always be the final step in your skincare routine. I recommend a non-nano, reef-safe SPF certified sunscreen.

If you ever feel like skipping this step, remember: it's easier to prevent sun damage than it easy to correct it!

Final words

Using this simple routine as a base, you can begin perfecting a skincare routine based on your unique skin needs.

Oh! One final note! When you just start out with a skincare routine, don’t expect to see ground-breaking results immediately. You may notice your skin becomes clearer or brighter. But to see long-lasting results, you need to care for your skin on a daily basis. Consistency is key!
