Niacinamide: The Multi-tasking Skincare Ingredient

Niacinamide: The Multi-tasking Skincare Ingredient

Niacinamide is our newest MUST-HAVE ingredient!

Have you heard about niacinamide? This multi-tasking ingredient, when applied regularly, can help you with a range of skincare issues like acne, wrinkles and sun damage. Not only that - but it’s also highly compatible with your skin, lessening the chance of a skin reaction.

Niacinamide is one of two forms of vitamin B3 which plays a big part in our boosting cellular metabolism by helping cells convert food into energy. It also boosts a little protein called keratin, which is responsible for keeping your skin looking firm (and not saggy). This is super important because proteins are the building blocks of your skin barrier, and niacinamide does a great job of keeping your proteins happy! When your skin proteins are happy and strong, so is your skin.

Vitamin B3 is also water soluble so its easily absorbed into the skin. It can do things like stabilize your skin barrier, and help with things like with acne, wrinkles, hyperpigmentation, sun damage and oxidative stress. This is what makes it one of our must have ingredients, it can do it all!

Who should use niacinamide?

Niacinamide is perfect for those with acne or rosacea because it’s a powerful antioxidant that has anti-inflammatory and anti-microbial properties. So whether you have blemishes or chronic inflammation this could be a big help.

How to add niacinamide into your skincare routine:

Another highlight of niacinamide is that it plays well with others. Sometimes with other ingredients you have to be very careful to not mix it with other ingredients in your regime in case you get a bad reaction, but niacinamide works really well with other actives.

It works especially well with hyaluronic acid (which you can find in our Fullmoon Serum). When used together, the skin can absorb niacinamide even better than it did before.

It also pairs very well with the mineral zinc if you are dealing with acne prone skin. As part of your skincare routine, start off with our Aloe Milk Cleanser and then follow up with our Face Food Mineral Mist as a toner. It contains zinc and a few other minerals that can help with inflammation as well.
